welcome to packet tracer navigating the
iOS there's three parts to this packet
tracer first part established basic
connections access the CLI and Explorer
help part to explore exact modes part 3
set the clock the start with part 1
establish basic connections access the
CLI and explore help step one can make
PC one switch one using a console cable
if you look over to pack a tracer it's
already been done for us so we can skip
step one and going right to step to
establish a terminal session we'll
switch one click PC one and then select
desktop tab
click the terminal application icon
verify that the port configuration
default settings are correct
it looked correct what is the setting
for bits per second
9600 is the answer and we're like okay
and this is the screen that appears
after we click OK and we need to press
return so let's do that
step 3 is explore the iOS health it's
asking us to put in a question mark this
gives us a list of the exact commands we
can use and first question which command
begins with a letter C and that would be
connect at the prompt type T and then
question mark
this gives us a list of all commands to
start with T telnet terminal tracer
route that would be the answer at the
prompt type te and then question mark it
gives us telenet in terminal
okay part to explore exact loads in part
two of this activity you will switch to
privileged exec mode and issue
additional commands so at the prompt
let's do question mark
what information is displayed that
describes the enable command let's go
over here to enable and it's this right
here turn on privileged commands that's
the answer so let's type in en and then
press the tab key so that auto fills the
word that's a good function to have so
we'll be using that and it's asking us
to type in te and do the exact same
thing but that won't work because
several words start with te so you can't
auto key auto fill that so now let's
type in enable
hit enter now we can type in the
question mark and we have a much greater
list of commands available in exact mode
one command starts with RC in the user
load up here how many commands now start
with C an exec mode well you could guess
we could count these but we could just
put in C and we could put in question
mark and this gives us all of them and
there's five clear clock configure
connect and copy that's the answer
so now let's enter a global
configuration mode so we will enter
configure or config you could do that
and hit that as well enter
so press ENTER to accept the default
parameter this enclosed in the brackets
so hit enter and now the prompt has
changed we went from the pound sign now
to config in account sign that's what it
means I did this is called global
configuration mode this mode will be
explored further and upcoming activities
and labs for now return to privileged
exec mode by typing and exit or control
Z and will do what they do on this lab
here we'll type indexes
okay part three is set the clock so
let's go ahead and do show clock this
gives us the time and date
so it's Monday March 1st 1993 use the
context-sensitive help and the clock
command is set the time on the switch to
the current time enter the command clock
and press Enter the percent and complete
command message is returned by iOS this
indicates that the clock command needs
more parameters any time more
information is needed help can be
provided by typing a space after the
command and the question mark so let's
type in clock with space and question
mark there we go set the time and date
so that's the answer set the clock using
the clock set command received through
the command one step at a time
so blocks it
and that's the information that you're
going to put in for your answer
what would have been displayed only the
clock set command had been entered and
it would be it right there percent in
complete command so based on the
information requested by using the clock
set command enter a time a three pm by
using 24-hour format a fifteen
attempt to set the date
using the format requested
so let's type in show clock to see if we
got it right
and we did get it right
if you're not successful try following
the command to attain the output above
step to explore additional command
messages the iOS provides various
outputs for incorrect or incomplete
commands continue to use the clock
command to explore additional messages
that may be encountered as you learn to
use the iOS issue the following command
and record the message ambiguous command
the complete command
invalid input detected at marker
they're invalid input at marker
and thank you for watching this video
and have a good day
