If you're in the market for a new wireless router, you're in the right place. Here are my top five personal favorites, covering all budgets and home sizes.
1. TP-Link Archer GE800
This Wi-Fi 7 router is ideal for large homes and 1 Gbps+ ISP connections. It features two 10G ports, four 2.5G ports, a dedicated gaming port, and cool RGB lighting. The TP-Link app includes Game Center tools like Game Boost and server acceleration. In speed tests, we hit over 2 Gbps wirelessly using the 6 GHz band at a distance of 30–40 ft. This router performs well even at 100 ft. HomeShield Pro offers advanced parental controls but is costly ($70/year, $130 renewal). The router works great without it. Price: ~$499 (sometimes $329 on sale).
2. MSI Radix AXE6600
A budget tri-band Wi-Fi 6E gaming router with six antennas, RGB lights, and a 2.5G WAN port. Great for 1 Gbps plans. We saw 150–200 Mbps at 100 ft through walls. Price: ~$119. Excellent value.
3. ASUS RT-B58U
Affordable Wi-Fi 7 router ($149.99) with dual-band MLO support. It lacks a 6 GHz band but delivers up to 2 Gbps wireless speeds. Wired speeds cap at 1 Gbps due to port layout. Coverage is 2,000 sq ft. The ASUS app is easy to use and requires no subscription. Excellent for small to mid-size homes.
4. TP-Link Deco BE67
A high-end Wi-Fi 7 mesh system with tri-band support (2.4, 5, and 6 GHz), MLO, and 8,100 sq ft coverage (3-node kit). Each node has 1G, 2.5G, and 10G autosensing ports, plus USB 3.0. The Deco app supports IoT/guest networks, traffic analysis, and security tools. Excellent speed even on wireless backhaul.
5. ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Pro
This is ASUS’s flagship quad-band Wi-Fi 7 router for gamers and pros. It includes dual 6 GHz bands, 2.6 GHz quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, dual 10G ports, multiple 2.5G ports, and USB ports. Advanced customization is available via the ASUS UI and mobile app. Early firmware lacked MLO and AFC, but updates are planned. In tests, we saw speeds up to 3,130 Mbps at short range. Long-range speeds hit 1,783 Mbps. Price: ~$800. Overkill for Wi-Fi 6 users, but future-proof for high-speed needs.
