How to Replace Batteries in Your Motorized Smart Shades

This quick guide walks you through replacing the batteries in your motorized smart blinds. With only a ladder and 8 AA batteries, you can bring your blinds back to life in just a few minutes. The battery tube is easy to access and secured with Velcro inside the shade housing. Follow this step-by-step breakdown to complete the job safely and easily.

Battery Replacement Steps

  1. Use a ladder to reach the battery tube mounted behind the top rail of the blinds.
  2. The tube is held in place with Velcro straps. Detach it carefully.
  3. Unscrew the battery tube from the wire connector.
  4. Remove the old AA batteries and replace them with 8 fresh AA batteries.
  5. Screw the tube back onto the wire connector tightly.
  6. Reattach the tube using the Velcro straps to secure it in place.
  7. Test the blinds to ensure they move up and down properly.

In this video, the right-side motor stopped working due to dead batteries. After replacing the batteries, both blinds operated normally. Generic batteries lasted around 11 months in this case. Higher-quality batteries may last longer.

No tools are required, and the entire process takes less than 10 minutes. Just make sure the Velcro is secure when reinstalling the tube.

This morning, we tried to open our blinds and the right-side motor stopped working. Looks like the batteries are dead.

The only equipment you're going to need to replace these batteries is a ladder and eight AA batteries.

The battery tube compartment is located behind the top of the blinds and is secured with Velcro straps.

Next, unscrew the tube from the wire connector.

Now simply empty the tube and replace all eight batteries.

These new batteries should last about a year. The ones we just replaced lasted around 11 months, and they were generic.

Screw the tube back onto the wire connector tightly. The blinds will move up and down, which confirms it’s working.

Lastly, secure the battery tube back inside the blinds and make sure the Velcro is fastened properly.
