The Sony Inzone H9 Mark II is a refined upgrade over the original H9, delivering lighter weight, superior sound, and incredible noise cancellation for PS5 and PC gamers. But while it gets a lot right, it’s not without its compromises.
The Inzone H9 Mark II builds on Sony’s first-generation H9 headset with improved comfort, enhanced XM6 drivers, and excellent dual connectivity via 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.3 LE Audio. The build quality feels premium, and the button layout—refined through professional gamer feedback—is among the best on any gaming headset today.
Despite a few shortcomings—like reduced battery endurance and limited EQ flexibility—the Inzone H9 Mark II is a strong step forward. Its combination of lightweight comfort, clean aesthetics, and top-tier noise cancellation make it one of the best wireless headsets for PlayStation and PC gamers alike.
Sony’s newest gaming headset looks perfect—but there are a few issues. Sony is back with their flagship wireless gaming headset, the Inzone H9 Mark II. The original H9 left plenty of room for improvement, but this new version fixes many of those flaws with a refreshed design, lighter weight, upgraded XM6 drivers, and better connectivity.
The H9 Mark II looks and feels premium. The earcups are smaller, the headband is sleeker, and the push-button head adjustment system is a welcome upgrade. It’s lightweight and flexible enough for all-day wear. The soft, breathable ear cushions eliminate ear sweat during long sessions, and Sony’s minimal branding keeps things clean.
The button layout is exceptional—developed with input from professional gamers. On the left earcup, you’ll find a large textured mic mute button, a scroll wheel for volume, a noise-canceling toggle, a USB-C port, and an audio jack for low-latency wired play. On the right earcup, there’s the power button, Bluetooth pairing, and game/chat balance control. The only minor complaint is the lack of a secondary mic jack on the right side.
Weighing just 260 grams, it’s one of Sony’s lightest gaming headsets yet. Inside the box, you get a 10-foot audio cable, a USB-C charging cable, the wireless dongle, a detachable boom mic with windscreen, and a soft carrying pouch. A hard shell case would’ve been a nice addition.
Setup is simple: connect via the 2.4GHz USB dongle or Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio. You can stay connected to your PS5 and phone simultaneously. Fine-tune audio using the Inzone Hub app on PC or the mobile version for console users. The software is intuitive and stable, though not as advanced as SteelSeries Sonar.
Once connected, the sound quality shines. The XM6 drivers deliver crisp, detailed audio with a noticeably wider soundstage. In games like Call of Duty, directional audio helps you hear footsteps before you see opponents—offering a real tactical edge. However, the bass tuning is tricky: too little and the sound feels thin; too much and it muddies the highs. You’ll need to find a personal balance through EQ adjustments.
Noise cancellation is where the H9 Mark II truly excels. Pressing the NC button virtually eliminates 95% of background noise, and ambient mode performs equally well. The only tradeoff is faster battery drain with ANC enabled. Still, it’s worth it for total immersion.
The detachable boom mic impresses with clarity and noise suppression—good enough for YouTube voiceovers. It’s easy to remove or reattach when not in use.
At $349, expectations are high. Sony claims 30 hours of playback, though real-world testing showed about 48 hours with noise canceling off. That’s 10 hours less than the previous model and far below some competitors that last 70 to 300 hours. However, the quick-charge feature—1 hour of playback from a 5-minute charge—is a plus.
After weeks of use, the conclusion is clear: the Inzone H9 Mark II nails the essentials. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and offers top-tier noise cancellation and great audio quality. The mic is excellent, though battery life could be better. If comfort, sound, and clean aesthetics matter more to you than extended endurance, the H9 Mark II is worth it.
