what's going on guys welcome back to the
channel i'm mike and this is the
ultimate tech hub
today's video is going to be a bit
unusual
we've had a lot of subscribers and
viewers
asking a multitude of questions
about wireless routers and i do enjoy
answering all your questions in the
comments sections however i decided to
make this video to help answer your
questions
and these are the top three things a
wireless router can't do and once again
i want to thank all my viewers and
subscribers patreon supporters and those
who follow us on instagram because
today's video was inspired by all of you
thank you i truly appreciate you okay
let's get started
the first thing a wireless router can't
do is increase your internet speed and
when i say internet speed
i'm referring to your isp's max speed
for instance
if you pay for 500 megabits per second
speed
through your isp
your router will never go above 500
megabits per second wired or wireless
and that's the facts
the best and most expensive
wireless routers are great at optimizing
your isp's max speed
and allowing a multitude of users to
enjoy that speed but a wireless router
will never increase your internet speed
ever no matter how much you pay for that
router
okay the second thing your wireless
router can't do is prevent your network
from being hacked and this goes for all
brand new wireless routers
as well as the old ones and even though
wpa3 is the latest security protocol for
all new wireless routers
there are many vulnerabilities
including the dragonblood attack which
sounds scary this attack
forces wpa3 devices to downgrade to wpa2
without the owner even being aware of it
and then launch a crack attack against
them in order to gain information about
the network the only way to prevent your
network from being hacked
is be proactive make sure all your
firmware is up to date on your router
change your passwords often and make
sure those passwords are very long
14 to 18 characters the longer the
better
and if you're the admin for your router
you should check it every three or four
days
to make sure all security protocols have
not changed and it's also recommended
not to broadcast your ssid
and remember you are responsible for
your network not getting hacked
okay the third thing your wireless
router can't do
is guarantee a wireless signal
throughout your house and no matter how
expensive your router is and no matter
how many antennas that router has
there is no guarantee that your entire
house will be covered with wi-fi signal
there are simply too many variables
that come into play
but the most common causes of a weak
signal
or no signal at all
is interference from physical objects
like walls doors and filing cabinets and
long distances can also impact signal
strength
most wi-fi signals
can reach up to 150 feet
but the further away you get from your
router the weaker the signal
and the slower the signal
and eventually no signal at all
so remember to put your router in the
middle of the house away from walls
and if your router is having signal
issues like slow signal or no signal at
all
try resetting your router
that usually fixes the problem and
lastly make sure your router's firmware
is up to date so guys remember your
router cannot increase your internet
speed
or prevent hacking of your network
or guarantee a wireless signal
throughout your house
so keep this in mind when you're buying
a new router and setting it up in your
house
