Reolink 5MP POE NVR System Review and Setup

System Overview

Camera Installation and Common Mistakes

One of the biggest mistakes we made was mounting the cameras too far from the network cable drops, leaving exposed wires. We later relocated five of the six cameras for cleaner installations, placing the cameras directly over or very close to the cable holes.

If you’re installing a Reolink system, follow these tips:

Camera Performance After One Year

After a full year of use, including exposure to rain, snow, desert heat up to 115°F, and dust storms, all six cameras performed flawlessly. The IP66 weatherproof rating proved reliable, and the video quality remains excellent.

We also upgraded the front driveway camera to an 8MP Reolink Bullet Camera with a built-in spotlight for better nighttime coverage.

Reolink NVR System Features

The NVR interface is user-friendly but lacks some viewing layout flexibility. Fortunately, the Reolink Client Software for PC offers a much better viewing experience and playback control.

Reolink Client Software vs Mobile App

The Reolink Client Software on PC is far superior to the mobile app. It offers:

While the mobile app is convenient, occasional freezing and pixelation occurred when accessing the 8MP bullet camera remotely.

Pros and Cons of the Reolink 5MP Turret Camera

Overall, the Reolink 5MP POE NVR System offers excellent video quality, easy setup, and strong durability at a very competitive price. Watch Full Video Review

hi everyone welcome back to another video i'm mike and this is the ultimate tech hub today is our one year anniversary update and review of our six camera five megapixel poe two terabyte mvr system and since we installed this system over a year ago we can now give a detailed and thorough review of the real league system the number one reason why we're making this video today is to help you decide whether the real link system is right for you or not so we're going to show you the installation the do's and the don'ts and the mistakes that we made and how to avoid them we'll take a detailed look at the camera as well as the new camera we installed we'll take a look at the nvr system the real incline software on the pc and the app on your phone and guys this video is a little longer than normal because we have a lot of information to show you but down below are chapters so you click on the areas you want to watch so let's take the tour so first i want to thank my subscribers and viewers for pointing out the mistake i made when installing these cameras i installed them way too far away from the network holes leaving an ugly wire from the camera to the hole and i did use wire covers to try to cover this up but it didn't look very good so in this video you'll see the before and after end of the six cameras i installed i had to move five of them and the camera under the back patio was the only one installed correctly this is the rio link rlc 520 5 megapixel turret camera with motion detection and night vision up to 100 feet and these cameras use a four millimeter lens with an 80 degree viewing angle these cameras have a video resolution of 2560 by 1920 at 30 frames per second with an additional micro sd card slot however this slot only supports up to 64 gigabytes of storage which is really not enough there is a microphone but no speaker and this camera is made for outdoor use with an ip66 rating which is dust and waterproof and our cameras have seen rain and snow and of course a lot of desert heat up to 115 degrees so now let's start with camera one this camera videotapes our front driveway and garages and this was a turret camera and yes i installed it way too low that wire is ugly and a lot of the viewers asked why i don't have a hole right here at the camera location and the reason is the way our house was built in the roof line we could not access the attic above that room so the only option was to drill a hole at this location and then run the wire under the roof line so about a month ago we updated this camera with a real link 8 megapixel bullet camera and this camera has a spotlight feature at night and we changed the mounting location for this camera about seven inches higher and let me know what you guys think in the comments below does it look better we think so and we're gonna post a video on how to install this camera so keep an eye out for it now onto camera 2 this is the before and after and once again that wire looked really bad now there's no wire at all and this camera covers the front area of the house and just a heads up when we move these cameras we had to patch and paint all four holes of each location okay here's camera three the before and after and just by moving the camera about seven or eight inches closer to the hole it looks a lot better and this camera covers the side yard by the pool gate and here's camera four the before and after and of all cameras this is the worst one it looked terrible so i installed this camera right over the hole so there's no wire i should done that in the first place but that's a rookie mistake and this camera covers the backyard pool okay camera five and of all the cameras that we installed this camera was perfect we mounted the camera right over the whole location perfect and this camera covers our back patio and now on to camera 6 and just for fun i'll show you how we move camera 6 to a better location with no wire so guys it's really important to hit subscribe and the bell icon that way you're notified when we post a new video and no matter which real link poe camera you buy the installation is pretty much the same and it's really simple the tricky part is mounting the camera in the correct location and then running the wire from the camera to the mvr system and you can see the wire drop location and i'm mounting the camera close as possible for a clean look and once again let me know in the comments below what you think and after mounting the camera i'll go back and patch and paint those four holes and this camera covers the side yard as well as the rv parking and this is after we patched the holes and painted them it looks good and guys if you're interested in seeing how this turf was installed as well as our backyard patio and pool there'll be a playlist right here you can click onto and watch the videos and guys we have one more camera right here it's not a real link camera this is from a company called kitty hawk this is a wire free camera and there'll be a video link right here if you want to watch the installation and the review so here's a few things to remember when installing these cameras first make sure to choose the optimal location for each camera each camera should cover a wide area second when running wires through the attic to your camera locations you want to use shielded cat6 wires and go ahead and run two wires to each location that extra wire provides the ability for expansion or if one wire fails you have a backup and most importantly try to install the cameras over the holes for the network cables or at least as close as possible otherwise it looks messy and sloppy and lastly you want the network wires coming from the cameras going to a central location somewhere in your house like a network panel or maybe a closet and this is the place you'll install your mvr system and your monitor so now let me give you my opinion on this realink turret camera first let's talk about what i don't like about this camera this camera is made of plastic which doesn't feel very durable and even though this camera is rated ip66 it still should be installed under a roof line for some protection in this turret camera does not have two-way audio and two-way audio is pretty standard for most poe cameras third this camera does not have ptz abilities that's pan tilt zoom so you have to manually move the camera this camera does have an 80 degree viewing angle which is okay however many cameras have 120 degree viewing angle which gives a larger viewing area i also wish the camera cable was white or beige which wouldn't stand out so much like this black cable this real link bullet camera i installed has a white cable and it blends in well and lastly the camera's storage capacity has a maximum of 64 gigabytes it would be nice if it could hold twice that amount which would allow for way more recording now let's talk about what i like about this camera first and foremost the image quality is excellent with 5 megapixel resolution at 2560 by 1920 this provides a sharp and clear image and with the motion detection and the night vision up to 100 feet that's a huge bonus and the camera comes with a mounting bracket already attached to the bottom which makes for an easy installation simply rotate the bracket counterclockwise to remove it from the camera then install the bracket and reattach the camera and one of the most important features of an outdoor camera is the durability factor and we tested the rlc 520 in every element possible from rain snow wind and heat and this camera passed with flying colors and this camera is priced at 39.99 and even though this camera is missing some features that many new cameras have we still recommend this camera because of the price the video quality ease of installation and the all-important durability factor in this newer 8 megapixel bullet camera we installed has even a better resolution at 4k and the install is just as easy it has the exact same wires as the turret camera but these wires are white and if you want to know more about this camera make sure to check out the review coming in about two weeks now on to the mbr system this system comes with two terabytes of internal storage with the option to add more storage if you want this mvr can connect up to eight cameras with all poe connections the mbr user interface is pretty good the only complaint i have about the mvr system is that the camera monitor options are pretty limited the real incline software has many more options so if real link is listening please do an update to add those extra options it's just nice to have more variation with your monitors and how they look on screen as far as the review for the mvr system it's very easy to set up this mvr system has a setup wizard to help you through the process as far as the pricing goes for this nvr it's around 200 however if you get the kit with the cameras and the mvr system you're gonna save some money so i definitely recommend if you get the cameras get the mvr system with it okay now let's talk about the real link client software and the real ink app for your phone in my opinion the reality class software is much better than the mvr system or even the app for your phone realty did a great job with the software you've got more than enough options to customize everything and the amount of monitor options is incredible and playing back recorded footage from the real link client software is super easy unlike the app for your phone that can be more of a challenge and i did find with the 8 megapixel bullet camera that i recently installed it works perfectly with the mvr system and the real link client software however the real link app for your phone sometimes the camera would freeze or have some random pixelations didn't happen often but i want to make you aware of it so just a heads up and the great thing about this system is that there's no video subscription needed you're not saving any footage to the cloud everything you record is on site which i like a lot especially with all the data breaches happening so guys we've had the system for over a year now we've done an upgrade and move some cameras and these cameras stood up to weather like rain snow wind and extreme heat and lots of dust and every camera works perfectly so if you're looking for an affordable 5 megapixel poe system that's easy to install and set up then i totally recommend this system for you and of course there'll be links in the description below where you can buy all these cameras in the mvr system and once again if you have any questions leave them in the comments below well guys we're all done here as usual i want to thank you so much for watching and i want to encourage you to visit my patreon page where two dollars a month helps keep this channel going and remember if you like this video give a thumbs up and share it if you love it hit subscribe to keep this channel alive thank you again for watching i really appreciate it [Music] [Music] you
