Buying a new TV shouldn't be this complicated, but here we are. It's 2026, and the sheer number of panel types available is ridiculous.
There's LCD, LED, OLED, QLED, Mini LED, MicroLED, QD-OLED, NanoCell, Neo QLED, ULED, and several others. I'm sure I left something off the list.
The point is that all of these acronyms make buying a new television complicated and confusing.
To help cut through that confusion, we're going to look at a TV that provides a bright picture, sharp colors, smooth motion, deep blacks, and high-quality audio.
This is the Hisense U6SF Pro, a 4K Mini LED television with a native 144Hz refresh rate.
To be clear, the U6SF Pro is a QLED Mini LED television.
Together, these two technologies create a bright, colorful, high-contrast picture that performs well under a variety of lighting conditions.
The U6SF Pro also includes VRR and Auto Low Latency Mode for gaming support. It has a glare-free, anti-reflective screen and a built-in subwoofer.
Both of those features can be difficult to find on many televisions.
Let's start with the thing you notice right away: the brightness and contrast. It's pretty impressive.
To be clear, these are not the default out-of-the-box settings. You'll need to dial in the settings to get this picture.
Luckily, all of my settings will be listed in the video description. You can use them if you want to reproduce this picture quality.
And yes, I turned the brightness up to 100%.
This television uses a Mini LED panel.
Instead of one backlight sitting behind the entire screen, you have hundreds of smaller LED clusters that can dim or brighten independently.
That's called local dimming, and it's the reason dark scenes can remain dark while bright highlights still stand out.
Now let's test the black levels.
We're going to use the Battle of Winterfell scene from Game of Thrones. This is an extremely dark scene and provides a difficult test for television black levels.
The U6SF Pro handles the scene surprisingly well.
With many LED TVs, black areas can end up looking somewhat gray. Here, however, the blacks look impressive.
It's not OLED black, but it's very close. Bravo.
This isn't just a generic Mini LED panel. Hisense is using its Hi-View AI image processing engine on this television.
The processor analyzes every frame in real time and adjusts elements such as brightness, contrast, and sharpness automatically.
When you're watching a movie, it can enhance cinematic depth. During sports, it can improve motion clarity.
You aren't manually making these adjustments. They're happening automatically, frame by frame.
This television supports several HDR formats, including Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10, and HLG.
The IQ and Adaptive features are especially interesting because they use the TV's built-in light sensor to determine how bright the room is.
The television can then adjust the HDR picture in real time so it still looks appropriate whether you're watching at noon or midnight.
For my current settings, I turned this feature off because I wanted complete control during testing.
For most people, however, I would simply leave it enabled.
Here's where this television really surprised me.
It carries two certifications that I don't usually see together at this price point: color validation and IMAX Enhanced certification.
The color validation means the television's color output has been independently tested against an established color standard.
What that means in practical terms is that skin tones should look like real skin tones. Familiar colors, such as team jerseys or the green of a football field, should look like the colors they're supposed to represent rather than an oversaturated approximation.
IMAX Enhanced is a certification program that covers both picture and audio.
On the picture side, the display is evaluated for characteristics such as brightness, contrast, and color volume.
There is also a growing library of compatible content available through major streaming services.
Now let's talk about something that many televisions completely ignore: how the screen performs in a bright room.
Most people don't watch television in a pitch-black room. You've usually got lamps on, sunlight coming through a window, or overhead lighting.
On a typical glossy television screen, that can create glare and reflections that wash out the picture.
The U6SF Pro includes an anti-reflective, glare-reducing coating on the screen.
Even in a brightly lit room, the television holds onto its contrast and color instead of washing out.
This is exactly how we watch television every day, and the lack of distracting reflections is a fantastic feature I didn't realize I needed.
The remote also has an interesting feature.
If you short-press the power button, the television enters wall art mode and displays artwork or decorative imagery.
Long-press the power button to turn the television completely off.
Other than that, the remote is fairly standard.
Now let's talk about motion smoothness because this can make or break a TV review.
The U6SF Pro has a native 144Hz panel. That's the actual physical refresh rate, meaning the screen can redraw itself up to 144 times every second.
That's an important number for gaming.
Games such as Gran Turismo 7 and God of War can benefit from high-refresh-rate displays and responsive gaming features.
Here's an important setup tip.
Make sure to connect your PS5 to HDMI port 4 on the back of the TV.
According to the video, this port supports the television's full high-refresh-rate gaming capability along with VRR and Auto Low Latency Mode.
The other ports don't provide the same feature set, so use the correct HDMI input for gaming.
VRR matters because it synchronizes the television's refresh rate with the frame rate the console is producing in real time.
This can help eliminate screen tearing and reduce stuttering.
Auto Low Latency Mode automatically switches the television into its lowest-latency gaming mode when it detects that a console is active.
That means you don't have to dig through menus every time you start gaming.
One quick note: VRR on this television may also be labeled FreeSync Premium.
Don't let the AMD branding confuse you. The important point is that the gaming features can still benefit a PlayStation 5.
The bottom line is that the picture is very smooth, with low input lag and minimal motion blur.
The U6SF Pro outperforms several televisions I've reviewed at higher price points.
Now let's talk about sound quality and the built-in subwoofer.
The question is whether you need to buy a soundbar or whether this television can handle audio on its own.

That's worth paying attention to because many TVs in this category either skip a dedicated subwoofer entirely or try to simulate low-end sound using processing.

I'll be honest: built-in television speakers, even good ones, aren't going to completely replace a dedicated soundbar or surround sound system.
If you're an audio purist, you'll probably still want to upgrade eventually.
For everyday movie nights and gaming sessions, though, this sound system is fantastic.
It has enough bass to make the television impressive even if you're particular about audio quality.
The U6SF Pro is built for everyday television viewers and PS5 gamers who want a bright, accurate picture in a real living room rather than a dark showroom or dedicated theater.
If you watch television in a room with windows or a lot of ambient light and you also game on a PS5, this TV is a particularly strong fit.
The built-in subwoofer and Dolby Atmos support also mean you can skip buying a soundbar on day one and still enjoy movies and gaming.
You may want to consider a different television if you watch almost exclusively in a completely dark dedicated home theater.
In that environment, the anti-reflective coating is solving a problem you probably don't have.
After spending real time with this television, I think the Hisense U6SF Pro is one of the most complete TVs I've tested this year.
The anti-reflective screen alone would be enough to recommend it.
Add strong color performance, IMAX Enhanced certification, smooth 144Hz gaming, and a sound system that genuinely impresses, and you've got a very compelling television.
