ultimate tech hub today i want to talk
about blue light in your devices
and we all know it late at night when
you're on your phone or laptop or
computer
that blue light can kill your sleep so
today we're taking a look at a product
from ocu shield
it's an anti-blue light screen protector
we're going to install this
on our surface pro 3 and see how this
all works
so without further ado let's get started

so how does blue light affect your sleep
well blue light
suppresses the body's release of
melatonin a hormone that makes us feel
drowsy
and while this may be useful during the
day it becomes unhelpful at night
when you're trying to sleep so how do we
fix this blue light problem
studies have shown if you stay off your
devices for three hours before you go to
bed
you'll get much better sleep however if
that's not an option for you
then installing an anti-blue light
screen protector will work
and today we're going to review an
anti-blue light screen protector from
maki shield
this anti-blue light screen protector

and this helps prevent eye strain and of
course promotes better sleep
and today we're going to find out if
this really works
so first thing we'll do is open the box
and see what's inside
and then we'll install it on my surface
pro 3.
so what's in the box an anti-blue light
screen protector
a dust remover a cleaning cloth
some holding stickers and double sided
tape
there's two ways you can install this
blue light screen protector
the first way to install it is a
temporary installation
which allows the screen to be easily
removed
the second way to install is more of a
permanent solution
and that's with a double-sided tape and
for our needs we want this to be
removable
so we're going to use the first
installation the temporary solution
all you have to do is attach these small
plastic tabs to the edge of the screen
and these tabs have a mild adhesive so
these tabs will lock in
the screen protector like i said this is
a temporary solution
which makes removing the screen
protector very easy
you see those tabs right there on the
sides
and it keeps the screen pretty secure
this kit comes with six of these tabs
however i only needed five
five secured it very well
so now it's time to test it in low light
situations
and we're also going to test the privacy
filter
and then lastly i'll give you my opinion
on whether i slept better or not
after using this filter okay now you can
see this is a low light situation
and the screen is not nearly as blue and
bright
it's not that harsh light it's much
easier on the eyes that's for sure
while this filter blocks out the blue
light it still has great optical clarity
and it's worth noting there's definitely
less glare as well
now let's go ahead and check out the
privacy filter and from the side angles
you can't see the screen at all
and that's a great feature i like that a
lot however from the top angle you still
can see the screen
like that in fyi the surface pro 3 is a
touch screen
and this filter does not affect the
touch screen whatsoever
and lastly let's talk about sleep i've
used this occu shield screen protector
for about two weeks now
and i intentionally use a surface pro 3
at night
just before going to bed and i had no
issues going to bed quickly
and for those two weeks i slept well
through the night
and i do feel by blocking that blue
light i do sleep better at night
my mind is less racing and my thoughts
are more calm
