Beginner's Checklist for Your First DJI Mavic Mini Flight

Charge All Devices: Ensure your drone batteries, remote controller, and phone are all fully charged (100%) before your first flight.
Set Up the Remote:
- Attach the control sticks to the remote.
- Connect the RC cable between your phone and remote.
- Insert and secure your phone into the holder.
- Open the antennas and power on the remote (press once quickly, then once slowly).
Prepare the Drone:
- Open the drone’s front legs and rear arms.
- Insert the fully charged battery and a microSD card.
- Remove the gimbal cover.
Launch the DJI Fly App and Power On:
- Open the DJI Fly app from your connected phone.
- Power on the drone using the same button sequence as the remote.
- Wait for the app to detect the drone and perform any required firmware updates.
Place and Launch the Drone:
- Place the drone on a flat surface like a sidewalk or level ground.
- In the DJI app, start recording your first flight.
- Use the Auto Launch feature to lift off safely.
- Use the Auto Land feature until you're confident with manual controls.

Before getting started: Be sure to download the DJI Fly app from the Play Store or Apple’s App Store.

Step 1: Charge everything to 100%. That means the drone batteries, remote controller, and your phone.

Step 2: Set up your remote:

Screw in the control sticks
Connect the correct RC cable from your phone to the remote
Secure your phone in the holder
Open the antennas and power on the remote by pressing the button once quickly and once slowly

Step 3: Prepare the drone:

Unfold the front and rear legs
Insert the battery and a microSD card
Remove the gimbal cover

Step 4: Open the DJI Fly app from the remote-connected phone, then power on the drone. Press the drone’s power button once quickly and once slowly. The app will connect to the drone for the first time and prompt a firmware update—complete that now.

Step 5: Place the drone on a flat surface, like a sidewalk. In the app, tap the record button to begin recording video, then use the auto-launch feature to lift off. You can now test the controls and explore the drone’s movement. We recommend using the auto-land feature until you’re comfortable flying manually.

Once landed, stop recording in the DJI Fly app. Congratulations! You’ve completed your first Mavic Mini flight—and you’ve recorded it too.
